Bottle-feeding Tips

🍼TIPS FOR BOTTLEFEEDING FORMULA OR BREASTMILK🍼

🍼If you are bottle feeding, a feeding should take between 10-30 minutes.

🍼If the feeding takes longer than 30 minutes, you need to move UP a nipple size so your baby gets a faster flow.

🍼If the feeding is 10 minutes or less, you need to go DOWN to a slower flow nipple.

🍼Also, when bottle feeding, you don’t want the baby to chug down the entire feeding quickly (or they may spit it all right back up). You want to PACE their feedings and pull the bottle out of their mouth, let them take some breaths, burp frequently, etc.

Our favorite brand of bottles (especially if you are breastfeeding) is @drbrowns starting out with the Preemie Nipple.

If you are breastfeeding and want to introduce a bottle, we recommend strict breastfeeding for 2 solid weeks, and introducing the Dr Browns when baby is 2 weeks old, or anytime after that when you are ready!
